Legendary Japanese director Hirokazu Koreeda premiered his newest feature ‘Monster’ at Cannes Film Festival to critical acclaim. A few months prior, the NOWNESS China team was invited to his work studio in Tokyo.
NOWNESS China presents ‘Still Working’, the newest original episode of Movie Insider. The team follows Koreeda’s day-to-day while he muses on his philosophies of life (or lack thereof), peeling back pages to reach the auteur underneath.
There is a natural care he gives to characters living on the margins of society, which he attributes to his childhood surrounded by similar people. Koreeda reflects on his inspiration and upbringing, gifting us an intimate glimpse into his life as a director still working.
